What does DUCA mean?

Central American Single Declaration.
It entered into force in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama as of May 7, 2019.

What is the DUCA for?

The Central American Single Declaration (DUCA) is the document that unites the three main customs declarations that protect the trade of merchandise in Central America.

The DUCA integrates:
- FAUCA (Unique Central American Customs Form),
Used for intraregional trade in originating goods. for - The Declaration for International Land Customs Transit (DUT)
Used for the international land transit of goods in Central America.
- Goods Declaration (DUA or DM)
and the Goods Declaration, also known as DUA or DM, used for trade with third countries outside the region.

The DUCA has three modalities:
The DUCA-F must be used to trade merchandise originating in the Central American region.
The DUCA-D must be used for the import or export of goods with third countries outside the Central American region.
The DUCA-T must be used for the transfer of goods under the international land transit regime.

Who captures the DUCA data?

DUCA is captured by CATRANSCA

It is the responsibility of the carrier to confirm that the tariff item, invoice, certificate of origin etc; are they correct?

No, it is the responsibility of the Importer's Customs Agent to confirm that the Tariff fraction and all the documentation required for the correct importation of the merchandise is correct.

How is custody like in Central America?

El servicio se brinda con un custodio armado que viajará dentro de la cabina con el operador, el cual estará en comunicación constante con la casa de seguridad que monitorearan que la unidad de viaje sin ningún contratiempo.

Nuestra casa de seguridad cuenta con todos los permisos gubernamentales para poder operar de manera segura y eficiente, cuenta con una infraestructura robusta que les permite reaccionar de manera rápida en coordinación con autoridades locales para la búsqueda y recuperación de unidades en caso de un código rojo ( robo en proceso).

Why is armed custody recommended in Central America?

Due to the high rate of robberies from motor transport in Central America, it is recommended to hire the armed custody service. The cost is very accessible and provides greater security when transporting your merchandise.

Does my insurance policy require me to contract armed custody?

It depends on the type of product and merchandise value, there are insurers that request the custodian for merchandise whose invoice value is greater than 80,000.00 usd.

Conditions may change in the case of auto parts, groceries, cleaning products, electrical appliances, cell phones, etc.

Schedule restriction for heavy load units (tractors / headers) in Guatemala.

In Guatemala City and surrounding areas, the restriction of hours to the circulation of heavy units begins at 5pm and ends at 9pm.

This means that no heavy unit (tractors / heads) can circulate at the indicated time, since it will be sanctioned and sent by the authorities.

Why should I insure my merchandise?

The route Mexico City - Puebla, Pue - Esperanza, Pue, Mendoza City, See - Córdoba, See - Cuitláhuac, See; It is considered one of the highest risk areas for the transportation of heavy cargo in Mexico. Units that travel for export from Mexico City to Central America have to circulate through these entities. Although we handle security protocols en route, it will always be very important to take out insurance for the merchandise that is transported.

Does my insurance policy require me to hire a custodian?

It depends on the type of product and merchandise value, there are insurers that request the custodian for merchandise whose invoice value is greater than 80,000.00 usd and the products are:

- Auto parts, tires, lubricants and additives.
- Computers and electronics
- Perfumery and cosmetics
- Textiles, Clothing and footwear

In the case of cell phones, the invoice value must be $ 50,000.00 usd to be obliged to hire a custodian.

Are the roads in Central America safe?

Unfortunately, Central America is a region with high crime rates, Grupo Ticamex recommends hiring armed custody in all FTL units that travel to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. Although Nicaragua and Costa Rica are historically safer, in Costa Rica there has been an increase in robberies, therefore custody is recommended for high-value items, spare parts and batteries for automobiles, cleaning supplies and finished products in final presentation for consumption.
